Since becoming paralyzed, this patient never imagined the additional problems that weight gain would cause. Her goal of competing as a wheelchair athlete were out of reach because at 30 lbs. overweight she couldn’t fit into the specialized equipment. The staff were supportive and after the first week she felt energized and full of life. Today, her athletic training is finally on track. She plans to compete in the Oita, Japan Marathon next summer.
